After our long parentesis about dragons, it's finally time to explore the branch of reptilian creatures. More precisely, all the reptilithorax creatures are characterized by having at least the torso of reptilian guise. This time we will explore the first two genera, leaving the others for another part

1. ORNITHOFORMES (Bird-like)

This group is composed by reptilian creatures that share common traits with birds in general: wings, beaks, and similar
  • DRAGALLUS: Commonly called Cockatrice, sometimes "dragoose" by less serious people. This species, via the wide spread among the multiverses, established in a lot of different habitats, thus evolving in many sub-species. The features that they share are the resemblance to both a chicken (or some other kind of poultry) and a dragon/ lizard, and a breath that turns to stone. Sometimes they get confused with a failed basilisk attempt, that can turn living creatures to stone by establishing eye-contact. Here are listed the main sub-species, that vary only in dimension and other minor features
       - MINUTUS  "Minute" in English, it's usually half a meter long and weights around 1,5 kg; it's the size of a normal chicken
       - MEDIOCRIS "Mediocre" in English, it goes from 1 meter to 1,5 meters of length and weights from 12 to 48 kg: the sizes are approximately those of a human
       - GRANDIS: "Big", in English, Their weight can vary from 50 kg to 7,5 quintals, and they can be up to 4 meters long; the average Dragallus grandis is about the size of an horse
       -  IMMANIS: "Enormous" in English. this category includes all the specimens bigger than 4 meters. The biggest of them ever seen was 12 meters long with a probable weight  of 20 tons
  • CAECORNU: its name comes from the latin "caecus"= blind and "cornu"=horn. This creature is like a 12 meters long pterodactyl, except that its eyeless head is soumounted by a giant horn, situated in the middle of where the eyes should be. The head itself is long and resembles a crocodile one. This creature can see using echo-localization, like bats, producing sound waves with its horn and receiving them with a special organ situated on the top of its tongue. Its horn is extremely potent, 5 times every minute the Yrthak, as it's called by the bedouines of the deserts where it lives, can create a high power sound wave that can damage enemies and even cause explosions if it hits solid material like rock or walls. It weights around 2,5 tons

2. SERPENTIFORMES (Snake-like)

Some are more similar to worms, while others have two or more legs, but their common characteristic is the serpentine long body.
  • BASILISCUS: Also called Basilisk, or King of Snakes, it has common to the snake the long tubular body. What it has different from the snake is the number of legs. He has six short and strong legs that he uses to move around, fairly hastly too.  It's said that its glare is deadly, but that's mere legend: the Basilisk has a very well developed brain, specialized in Psionic ability. He in fact can send a paralyzing psychic wave to his victims, but to be effective the brain activity must be stabilized. This means that a victim to be killed needs to be weakened by his hypnotic stare first. The psychic wave completely mess up the victim's brain, allowing the Basilisk to kill the victim without any problem; but since it paralyzes the whole body, the victim can be left unharmed to die of infarct or suffocation. Its length commonly is around 2 meters at the adult stage.
The average specimen one can find in nature is generated via normal reproductive means, but a basilisk can be artificially created: the process involves a ritual, that must be performed on a chicken egg on a new moon. By killing a pregnant snake in the middle of the ritual, and injecting the chicken egg with the poison of the snake, the soul of the chicken gets corrupted with the souls of the unborn snakes and starts the process to become a Basilisk. then the holes on the egg must be covered with tallow, the breeder must cast a mind enhancer spell on the egg and a toad must sit on the egg until the next full moon. A failed attempt to create a Basilisk makes a snake whose stare can turn things into stone. Since its not a regularly obtained creature, and it's completely sterile, the latter snake does not figure in normal books, but the scientific community refers to it with the name "Ophides oculisaxi" = "Snake eyes of stone"
  • INIMIDRACONIS: Commonly called Behir, it's very similar to his cousin the Basilisk, but as the name says ( inimicus="enemy", draconis= "of dragons") this creature evolved to be the natural enemy of dragons. It's almost anatomically identical to its psionic counterpart, but much bigger, reaching an average size of 12 m and a weight of 2 tons. Instead of the basilisk's hypnotic stare and brain wave, the Behir can send an electric shock from its mouth, that can damage enemies up to 6 m away, like a Tesla coil could. Behirs hate dragons with all their hearts, and they will never share a territory with them. They will never pass on the chance to kill one of them
  • ALAIRIDIS: Its non-scientific name is  Coualt. It's a snake, from 3 to 4 meters long, with a couple of wings made of feathers in all the colors of the rainbow, with an average wingspan of 4,5 meters. Its intelligence is comparable, if not superior, to human levels, but the lack of hands and their love for nature kept them away from civilization. Its name comes from the latin words "iridis"= of rainbow, and "ala"=wing
  • MILLIPEDAESTUS: A fearsome creatures that inhabits particularly cold and snowy habitats. It resembles more a centipede than a snake, but the scales on its body are clearly reptilian. The inhabitants of its habitat calls it Remorhaz, while its scientific name comes from the latin words "millipeda"= centipede and "Aestus"= heat. In fact this creature can warm its body to unbelievable temperatures, so much that iron sometimes melt if it gets in contact with its scales. The Remorhaz normally hides its 6 meters long body under the ice and the snow, camouflaging perfectly thanks to the cold colors of its scales. With the heat of its body melts the ice to cover the hole it left behind. When it senses the vibration of a potential victim, it quickly raises its body temperature to almost the max, manifesting bright red stripes going alongside its body. The heat istantly melts the ice, allowing its massive 5 tons body to erupt from the ground in a cloud of steam, terrifying the prey.
  • OSSEPIA: From the Latin "Os"=face, muzzle and "sepia"= squid, this creature is normally 2,4 meters long and weights 100 kg. Its name comes from its face: the beak and the four tentacles make it look like a squid. The rest of the body look like a black snake, grey on the tummy. It infests dark places like holes, caves, dungeons, crevasses and burrows. Due to its weak neb, it must eat slowly, so it kills completely the prey before dragging it into its lair to eat it undisturbed. People call this creature Grick
  • PUELLACAPUT: The legends identifies this creature with the term Naga. Its scientific name means "Girl (puella) head (caput)", because their head resembles the head of a woman, more or less. They are smart as much as humans and can cast spells. They are normally 2 to 4 meters long; their body can mimic the curves of a real woman sometimes, even featuring breasts;  they have poisonous fangs too. The discovered kinds so far are listed below
    - LACUS: With a very human-like head, this spiteful and irascible naga likes to hang out in water. Green stripes run alongside its scaly body, and its back is covered in red-orange spikes, that rise up when the naga is pissed. Its name means "of lake"
    - DEFENSOR: Its name meaning defender, its body and face are the more human-like, but it still lacks limbs. Wise and benevolent, this kind of naga normally chooses an holy place to preserve or tries to fight evil in every way possible. Its flower scented body has green and golden scales, with a golden crest that goes from the top of its head to the bottom of its tail. When she's angry the crest rises up. Watch out for its poisonous spits
    - TENEBRAE: The naga "of darkness", according to the scientific name, has only the head that vaguely recalls to a human. Otherwise everyone would say it's a big purple eel with a big sting at the end of the tail. In fact it's the only naga to lack poisonous fangs, but it compensates this fault with the power of its poison, its other abilities and its Machiavellian evilness. Every creature hit by its poisonous sting faints and experiences nightmares for several minutes, giving the monster all the time it needs to kill the poor victim. This kind of naga can read the thoughts of their enemies, but not other  tenbrae nagas, since they are  immune to mind reading and charming
    - MALEFICUS: This naga, whose name means malefic, haunts uninhabited or ruined places. Its facial features are only vaguely human, and they are the most evil of all nagas. Just by making eye contact with the naga a victim might get charmed, thinking the naga is their friend. A malefic naga looks like a revolting serpent with black and red segments, a semi-human face and frayed hair.
  • VERMIFLAGRO: Generally called Thoqqua, this worm like creature is 30 cm wide, up to 1,5 meters long and weights approximatively 100 kg. It bores through the ground eating minerals. Like the name suggest (vermis= worm, flagro= burn) its long body is extremely hot, so much that it melts stone. The tip of its nose is the hottest part of his body, and the thoqqua uses it to dig, leaving a small hot tunnel wherever it goes
